Projects Completed So Far
* We have provided each girl with her own mattress and bed sheets to sleep on.
* They now have their own lockers to put away their belongings.
* They have tables and benches for eating.
* A Physical Education teacher was hired by a sponsor to teach the children Yoga, meditation etc. A Music teacher hired by her teaches the girls to sing.
* The same sponsor has employed a Medical Doctor to come and check out the health of the girls every week.
* We are keeping a formal health log for each girl.
* A sick room with a cot and a refrigerator for medicine has been created to isolate a sick child from the rest.
* Essential medicines are supplied by us on a regular basis.
* We buy inner wears, socks, toiletries etc. for the girls as needed.
* We arrange for sponsors for Field Trips.
* A large screen TV and a CD player is now providing the girls with much needed entertainment.
* We have bought Ceiling Fans, Table Fans,
for the facilities.
* We have provided the matrons with folding cots and beddings.
* We have bought kitchen utensils, cooking stoves, Exhaust fans etc. to be used in the upper kitchen.
* We have provided the children with book shelves, shoe racks, clothes drying facilites.
* A sponsor has donated a washing machine for the girls to wash their clothes.
* We have recently purchased Text books for the class IX students.
* Three private tutors are coaching the Class IX girls with their studies. Thanks to two sponsors who are providing the tuition fees.
* The Computer Classes have started with volunteer teachers. We have three computers for the time being.
Our Current Projects
* We are working with Nexgen to build three tiered bunk beds for the girls with storage spaces. A private donor has agreed to pay RS. 9 Lacs+ for the bunk beds to accomodate all the girls.
* We are looking for the space to build a library and a computer lab.
* Once we have the space we will need to furnish it with books and computers.
Much Needed Future Projects
*** The School desperately need additional habitable space. Currently one hundred girls are sharing just one room as their bedroom as well as their activity room. There are only two bathrooms/toilets facilities for 100 girls.
Since the part of the building has been declared unsafe, the only solution is to build an activity room, a library, a computer lab and at least two more bathrooms/toilets on the roof top terrace and convert the current room into a dorm room.
The current building needs much repairing and painting and reorganizing.
We will need to raise approximately 20 Lacs of rupees or about $33000.00 in order to finish all these projects.
*** The Government only pays for the girls' education till the class eight. After they finish class VIII, these girls have nowhere to go but back to where they have come from. Additional two years' stay at the dorm with private coaching will enable them to finish their Madhyamik Exams and give them the very basic degree they will need to further their education.
It will cost an extra of approximately Thirty Thousand Rupees or $500.00 each month to accomodate them in this facility.
